FAQ

  • What is the difference between a doula and a midwife?

A doula and a midwife are very different, but often work together! While a midwife is a medically trained professional that delivers babies, a doula is strictly a support person for both mom and dad! Doulas are not medical professionals, but instead provide physical and emotional support. Doulas are often trained and certified through organizations.

  • When should I hire a doula?

This is personal preference! While some people like to wait until their second or third trimester, some women hire doulas as soon as they get a positive test. Because doulas don’t take more than a certain amount of clients in a “due date window”, it may be a good idea to hire one sooner rather than later, to ensure that they are available for your due date.

  • What are the benefits of having a doula?

Research suggests that continuous support during labor can lead to shorter labors, reduced need for pain medication, and decreased likelihood of cesarean sections! Doulas also offer emotional support, helping women and their partners feel more confident and prepared for birth.

  • I don't want an unmedicated birth- can I still have a doula?

Yes! Doulas absolutely are trained in pain management for unmedicated births, but we’re also trained to assist people who are bed-ridden due to having an epidural! Things like position changes, informational support, and practical support are still needed in a medicated birth setting.

  • Are your prices negotioable?

The prices for my packages are not negotiable, due to a number of reasons. This being said, I aim to make my prices fair, and accessible to give more people the opportunity for this type of support.

  • Do you offer refunds?

The initial deposit is non-refundable. The remaining amount may be subject to refund depending on a few factors. If something happens in my life that prevents me from attending, like a family emergency, I will refund that amount.

If the client fails to notify me that they are in labor, or just decides they no longer want to use my services, I do not offer a refund. Things like quick labors, or last minute changes to cesarean will not be refunded, as I still provide my services to you.
